Starting out as a hobby in 2013, Deborah became fascinated with making concrete leaves. Using cast concrete, she produces a unique replica of the natural features and beauty of the original, real leaf. The painting varies from realistic and natural to surreal interpretations.
Quilting has been a lifelong pursuit, making hand tacked quilts in the timeless manner handed down over generations.
Every leaf can only be used once so each piece is truly unique and numbered by the artist. Using a supporting bed of sand, the leaf is covered with concrete producing a copy of the fine texture surface and veins. The leaf is removed before the concrete completely hardens. The leaves are painted by hand to reveal their beauty.
